About 12 months ago, I met someone new. I wasn’t expecting to meet anyone and I didn’t think our relationship would intensify as quickly as it did. Before I knew it, we were seeing each other two, sometimes three times a week. Things got serious… fast.
Yes, it’s been a year since I met my trainer Valerie.
From the first moment I met Valerie (at Steve Nash Fitness Club), I knew she was going to be tough; she wasn’t going let me get away with anything. And she hasn’t! From food journaling to weekly weigh-ins to workout form and technique, she watches me like a hawk. But she also encourages me, cheers me on and pushes me to do things I never dreamed I could do.
Here are just a few of the motivational things she has said to (aka yelled at) me during our workouts over the past year:
“You’ve got this!”
“Don’t give up!”
“Foam roll tonight.”
“The Cubs have got this. I feel it!”
“Why are you stopping?”
“Don’t stop!”
“Are you taking your supplements?”
“You’ve lifted heavier.”
“Seriously. Don’t stop!”
“You can do it! Trust me.”
“Are you stopping again?”
“The Cubs are unstoppable!”
“Keep going!”
“You need to stretch more.”
“Stop thinking. Just do it!”
“Why are you stopping?”
“You can do this! I know you can.”
“Seriously, the Cubs are going all the way. I can feel it.”
And you know what? So far she’s been right about everything. (Even the Cubs!)
Awesome! I have never worked regularly with a trainer, but I think I am getting to a point where I need extra help!
It will up your game big time! Even a couple of sessions.
Ah! It is SO good to have someone motivate by your side!
It helps soooo much.
Sounds like a great trainer! Glad she was right about the Cubs too!
😃
I absolutely love this post! Maybe I need someone to yell motivational things at me 😉
It definitely helps!! Haha
“You’ve lifted heavier”–that’s so funny! I think that’s awesome that you’ve found a trainer that meshes so well with you!
She’s pretty awesome. 😃
I feel like I need her to yell motivational things at me all day, especially when dealing with my wild boys! 😉
Ohhhhhh I wonder if she offers that service. Ha!!!!
How inpirational! I wish I had the extra $$$ for a trainer BUT I did just join a YMCA and have been attending their classes 6 days a week and already seeing huge results. Keep it up!
Six days a week?!?!? You’re a machine!! Nice work. Congrats on the results!
I love this! I’m a fitness instructor and I feel it’s soooo important to throw out those positive affirmations to clients as often as possible.
That’s awesome!!! Please know the positive affirmations work!
I’m starting to think that the accountability of a trainer would help me reach New Years goals!
Being held accountable- it’s a pretty big motivator!!!
My coach at Steve Nash in Victoria has been awesome! We have a love-hate relationship… she loves to push me, and I hate to quit!
Keep going, you got this!
A love-hate relationship… I totally agree!!!! 😃 Thanks for reading, Darcy!
